Topic: Food Security in Edmonton's Inner City
Speaker: David Prodan, Program Manager, McCauley Apartments (E4C)
While food banks and similar centres provide those in need with immediate access to food, local food security projects address the nutritional needs of low-income individuals, while also empowering them with confidence and the knowledge needed to produce food and be self-sufficient. Our guest speaker will focus on a series of community gardens being run by E4C in Edmonton's inner city area. He will then talk about a project in development that will hopefully lead to the creation of a series of food hubs, or centres that teach low-income individuals how to grow their own food.
