When you are asking for help in a world of impersonal electronic communications, a face to face conversation and a visit to your home can mean a lot.
For more than 10 years, The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Edmonton has made it their mission to serve the poor with love, respect, justice and joy often by sending volunteers to meet with people in their homes.
Using more than 500 volunteers and no paid staff, the faith-based agency served about 7,000 people last year by providing used furniture, food, clothing, friendship and housewares.
Meet Mary Dunnigan, President of the Edmonton Central Council, and find out more about the amazing work of the society.
You never know, you might just be moved to get involved.
