The World Health Organization define food security as "all people at all times [having] physical and economic access to adequate amounts of nutritious, safe, and culturally appropriate foods." Edmonton is not exempt of the issue of food security. The Edmonton Community Foundation found in 2015 that slightly more than 2 in 5 (44%) Edmontonians believe food security is a problem in Edmonton.    

Edmonton’s Food Bank served 17,722 different people in October 2015, in the form of food hampers (This does not include meals, snacks and other food programs.) This showed an increase of 21.5% over the previous yea
