Event Description: October 16 is World Food Day, and food security is a vital component of a healthy community. Unfortunately, skyrocketing food bank usage in recent years in Edmonton is an indicator that hunger and food insecurity continues to be a pressing challenge. For this Lunch & Learn event, we will learn about the important work that Edmonton’s Food Bank undertakes to address emergency short-term responses while acknowledging that wider food literacy, food skills, and longer term strategies in areas such as affordable housing and livable incomes are also essential in tackling this persistent social problem.
