Food Security

Zero Hunger, a Sustainable Food System, and Healthy and Safe Food

The World Health Organization define food security as “all people at all times [having] physical and economic access to adequate amounts of nutritious, safe, and culturally appropriate foods.” Edmonton is not exempt of the issue of food security. The Edmonton Community Foundation found in 2015 that slightly more than 2 in 5 (44%) Edmontonians believe food security is a problem in Edmonton.

Each month the Edmonton Food Bank serves 20,000 people through it's food hamper program.
