The CCPA is an independent research institute concerned with issues of social and economic justice. Offices are located in Nova Scotia, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia. While they address local issues, they also tackle national and international issues. This site gives a sense of types research being conducted across Canada.

A virtual resource centre for Canadian social research information. Site contains an extensive links page related to social policies and social issues. Includes such topics as welfare (income supports), minimum wage, poverty measures, provincial and federal sites, and more. Offers various articles and statistics and publishes a weekly newsletter that can be emailed directly to you or viewed online. Links are listed by jurisdiction and alphabetically by theme.
Conference Board of Canada
The Conference Board of Canada is a not-for-profit organization with expertise in running conferences and conducting, publishing and disseminating research, helping people network, developing individual leadership skills and building organizational capacity. It is also a specialist in economic trends, as well as organizational performance and public policy issues. Site offers and online database (pay service) and an online library (free, must register for account) from which publications can be downloaded.
Connexions Online
Connexions Online features information about resources and organizations around the world fostering democratization, economic justice, environmental responsibility, civil liberties, and the creation and preservation of community. The Connexions Online Library features thousands of documents and articles on a wide variety of issues. The Connexions Directory lists several thousand grassroots organizations.
Institute for Research on Public Policy
IRPP seeks to improve public policy in Canada by generating research, providing insight and sparking debate that will contribute to the public policy decision-making process and strengthen the quality of the public policy decisions made by Canadian governments, citizens, institutions and organizations. The IRPP regularly publishes research papers on a variety of topics as part of its Choices series.

Statistics Canada produces statistics that help Canadians better understand their country, its population, resources, economy, society and culture. In Canada, providing statistics is a federal responsibility. As Canada's central statistical agency, Statistics Canada is legislated to serve this function for the whole of Canada and each of the provinces. In addition to conducting a Census every five years, there are about 350 active surveys on virtually all aspects of Canadian life.
